Occupational Therapists' Role in Cognition in Return to Functional Activity

Presented by:

Taryn Mitchelich, MS OTR/L

Jennifer Vance, MOTR/L

This seminar examines the role of occupational therapy in recognizing, evaluating and implementing interventions for patients with cognitive deficits.  Multiple areas of basic and complex cognition will be discussed.  The neuro-anatomy associated with each area will be outlines for better understanding of the connection between injury and deficit.  The presentation will then focus on functional and practical ways clinicians can recognize cognitive deficits in their patients and form appropriate interventions to improve independence.  Case studies will be used to illustrate evaluation and intervention process.
